How to clean your security door?

The big question how!! In reality there is no quick and easy fix. We have found the best way to clean your door. It is a bit different that normal means we have found that the foam from those sprays that people use on their car tyres to keep them shiny works fantastic!! The simple dynamics of spraying on the foam on the door and as it expands it lifts the dirt in the places you cannot reach. Spray the foam all over the door let it stand for around a minute or two and then the best thing is to get a high pressure washer (karcher) to wash the whole door down. You will be very happy with the results it does work!! A lot of people get worried about the coating on the door, it’s no problem they are all powder cotted so this does not hurt or affect the paint it actually makes the shine. You must remember that your door acts as a filter, filtering the air that passes through it, it traps the dirt on the fly wire and it is very hard to clean. We find this method the best!!! Please put towel behind timber to stop water coming in.
If you have any enquires or just need some help deciding, we offer a free consulting service so please visit Michael's Security Doors.

Sales traps

Crimsafe
A door should come with everything. Simple as that!! Well the problem is that a lot of companies and or backyard operators manipulate people with misleading statements, this month free installation, this week only twenty percent off, if you sign today we will ?? Etc. I'm just trying to point out some of the gimmicks tricks and sales ethics out there; I've only touched on the very simple and easily recognizable sale pictures. There are some very tricky unethical people out there not caring if your door is actually secure. So buyer beware purchase from a reputable business, visit their showroom see if they even have one, how long have they been  in the industry, do you have any examples, where are they made and even if they do that or are they a contracted sales person to get your signature. This might sound harsh but I just want you the customer to get what you are paying for. Secure yourself and your home without getting ripped off!!!

Ventilation

With any home ventilation is very important not only for cooling your home it also makes life a lot more comfortable. The thing that most people don't understand is that ventilation needs a flow through affect to make it work efficiently; simply it needs an entry point and a exit point. This is why when you open your front door without opening your back door you will hardly get any air in, any flow through. We recommended that if you open a window or door on one side of the house and you open one on the opposite side to create the flow through, especially as a lot of people have evaporative cooling these days this becomes even more important, without the entry and exit points your home will end up feeling quite damp, nowhere for the cooler air to escape. This is why cross ventilation is very important to everyday living.

Secure your home when going on holidays

What we are going to talk about here is some simple tips, to make sure when you do go on holidays that when you come back everything is still there. First thing is that you should make your home look like you haven't  gone on holidays, set a timer for one to two different lights in your house to come on and off at different times. Make sure your neiboures know that you are going away and of them to keep a eye out for you also get them to take the bins in and out like normal, next make sure the mail does build up, this is a easy give away for burglars. Next have a family member call in every now and then this helps as the burglars don't know whose coming and going. Last but not least make sure you have locked every door and window and the keys are either with you or put away somewhere safe.

Secure all exit points

One of the most important doors to secure is the side, Landry and the door around the back. This is the one the burglars will target!!! Most people put the strongest door on the front but forget about around the back they end up making the back door a soft and easy target for the burglars. This is why we think you should make sure you have a really strong safetydoor fitted to back or side entry. Burglars like being hidden from plain sight that's why the back door more appealing to them. We even recommend sensor lights to be fitted down both sides of your home to help scare them away; it's all about making it as hard as you can for them. Don't be a soft target!!!

The humble security door locks

Security Doors
Locks have changed a hell of a lot over the years the latest inventions include parrot like beaks. So what this means is a normal lock the tongue comes straight out of the door now with the parrot beaks they actually hook, grab the striker plate making it a lot harder to jemmy. You can get these locks in a single system or you can even get them a three way locking system, all operated from the centre lock the new locks also have fire escape features which means you can lock the door from the outside and the snib on the inside still works to unlock the door. You can also turn the key all the way around and it double deadlocks the door, so if someone breaks in through a window they cannot get out through the door.

Galvanic corrosion

First of all galvanic corrosion is when two dissimilar metals come in contact with each other with the presence of an electrolyte (water, rain etc) will act adversely with each other and cause severs corrosion. Put simply two different types of metals should not come in contact with each other without an insulator between them or they will corrode. This why here a Michael's when we make one of our steel and aluminum combination security doors we put insulators between the steel and aluminum door frame to stop this from happening. The last thing you want as the customer is a door that starters to corrode two months after purchase, the process we use ensure it will corrode.

Why Crimsafe Won’t Rust

Crimsafe is made from a woven 304 Grade Tensile tough Stainless Steel mesh. Pre-treatments and powder coat technologies are added and applied to the mesh to ensure and maximize durability and longevity. Providing the powder coating on the mesh remains intact and is frequently kept clean so that no air born impurities such as salt or dust can build up on your screen, preventing any opportunity for it to oxidize and change color... Crimsafe mesh will not rust; it will have a lifespan of approximately 65 years!
Crimsafe
Crimsafe Have Thought Of Everything
Crimsafe even use a special rubber insulator separating the mesh and its aluminium framing from contact, as over time and weathering when aluminum and stainless steel touch a potential of galvanic corrosion may occur and can deteriorate your screen, therefore this special rubber insulator called a Stanoprene is also applied to your door for maximum durability and longevity.
Secure Your Home
Ensure your home is secure with not only protection but simple everyday tasks and precautions to elimate any attempts from potential intruders or burglars. Deter potential threats by installing sensor lights around your home; ensure all power tools or potentially valuable items aren’t left around your property. If you’re going away for the weekend or an extended period of time, ensure all your trees are trimmed back; mail or paper is collected so it appears your house isn’t unattended, as well as your alarms all working and turned on, windows locked and doors double deadlocked...
Just that little bit of extra precaution will ensure the security and safety of your belongings and deter any potential thief or burglary from your home.

Steel Security Doors Vs Aluminium Security Doors

For starters steel is a stronger metal, therefore a stronger security door. The main differences is with a steel security door and a aluminum security door is that the corners of the door are welded together forming a one piece design where in the case of a aluminum security door they are held together with a metal corner stake and riveted together. This process is still satisfactory but welding the corners is better. Also a steel security door has structural steel bars welded across it, every steel door has a center cross rail to strengthen the two side styles (to prevent jemmying) to protect the lock from attack.
Steel Security Doors

Steel Security Doors being fully welded mean that there is no twisting effect better rigidity; this is to stop potential burglars from grabbing the bottom of the door and basically bending it straight up. The way to stop this from happening in a aluminum security door is to fit it with a triple locking mechanism (one in the middle one at top and one at bottom all activated from the center) A aluminum security door is still a quite affective security door, the Australian standard is based around it but I think and believe a steel security door is better!!! Hopefully this is helpful.

Security Door Designs

Security doors come in many different styles, colors; mesh options and locking types, which one is the one for me?

The best way to decide; stand at the front of your house not at the door way take in all of the house the windows the colors the shapes even the landscape (grassy area, paved area, uphill, downhill even the angle that you see the doorway from) it’s very important to best fit your house not the house down the road, a lot of people fall into the trap of copying, their door might suit their house but not suit yours. One of the more important things is the lines of the house vertical, horizontal or diagonal this will help cut out at least fifty percent of patterns next is to decide whether you want scroll’s to suit wrought iron styling or whether you are looking for a clean modern style, this again should be a lot easier now that your standing at the front of your house and not at the doorway.

Match what you see or are going see if you making changes on your home ie renovating.
I have found the hardest part of choosing the right security door is the color!!! The normal rule of thumb is to match the colour of your windows as they are what most people choose as their important color. Never make the security door and the mesh the same color as in my option it looks 'horrible' no differentiation, same, the pattern of your security door is an important feature of the front facade of your home if you follow this guide that is. This is why I'm sharing my experience with you so you can get it right the first time, hope this helps you.

Security Doors
Michael's Security Doors has been operating since 1990 Greg Allingham the director comes from the old school approach that you have to get your hands dirty to succeed in anything you do. If you are going to do it do it right or don't do it at all. He started as an installer then learnt how to manufacture and then went out to measure, at the start there was no flashy offices or factory, just one showroom with a small room out the back where he made the doors. He used to measure in the mornings, manufacture in the afternoons then go out and install late in the day or on the weekends. He had to do a lot of hours but he believed and still believes this is the best way to learn and test yourself you find out your strengths and weakness that you needed to improve on. As you can see Michaels Security Doors has come from humble beginnings but has stayed true to its beliefs in customer service delivering a quality product at a true and reasonable price. This is why the brand Michael's Security Doors is getting more and more recognized in the market place, with Michaels Security Doors having opened showrooms in the east of Melbourne (Doncaster) and the west of Melbourne (Ravenhall), with all the manufacturing still coming out of head office in Thomastown, we hope to provide the same true service and quality that we believe customers deserve. Michael's Security Doors now has nine employees dedicated to providing the best service in the industry from the initial contact to the measuring all the way through to the installation process we aim to make this seamless. We believe most companies have lost the personal touch, we talk to the customers find out what they want and need not what some just want to sell. Michael's Security Doors aim is to provide 'Security with piece of Mind ' no gimmicks no catches honesty!!! For more information please contact us at www.michaelssecuritydoors.com.au Thank you

If you have a feature front timber door that you don't want to hide it is ideal as the security door is made of a sheet of stainless steel it is completely clear, (transparent). Michael's Security Doors Crimsafe security doors come standard with a triple locking system ( one at top one in middle and one in bottom) having a triple lock stops intruders from being able to jimmy the security door, bend the door or try to split the timber, that's why Crimsafe is one of best security doors on the market. Here at Michael's Security Doors we believe that a security door is not just a security door it ends up being one the first things your friends and family see as soon as they visit your home, with that being the case we believe that your security door is a very important part of your facade of your home. Security is of course paramount first and foremost, with all the new designs and styles whether its modern, art deco, heritage or classic we think we have a design that will compliment your home without compromising your security. Michaels Security Doors offers a free measure and quote service which we will show you all the different designs styles colors and even mesh options, there so many to choose from, feel free to visit us at michaelssecuritydoors.com.au to view all of ranges . One of the most important parts of choosing a design is to look at your house from the street not at the door way as this will give you more of a understanding of which type of design would suit the best, if you just stand at the door way sometimes you can select a design that's suits the wooden door on your home but when you stand out at the street this design doesn't work quite as well. Your home might have a top arch feature it might have colonial windows or even lead light that needs to be taken into consideration. This is why here at Michaels Security Doors we don't just want to fit your home with a security door we want to add to the appeal of your home which should hopefully add some value to it as well. We take a lot of pride in what we do and how we do it we don't want to just sell you a door we want to add to your home.

Michaels Security Doors have been specialising in heritage steel security doors since the 1990 we have developed this product a long way since the early days, we have taken it to the next level we use a 50 x 20 mm steel frame with mitered corners. We miter the corners to stop moisture getting in, this also creates a perfect match with both sides of the door have a seamless finish as steel has a radius on the edge. While with a butt join the steel the top of a security door (mostly standard in the industry) will be hollow letting moisture in the problem with this is that the radius on the top of the door will not match the straight cut on the side of the door which then means you would have to ground down that edge to match the radius on the top of the door (just doesn't look right). We use solid steel spindles turned on a lave ( not cast ), laser cut decorative corner pieces with six different types to choose from, we match the cross rails heights to suit your timber door to give your new security door perfect harmony with your home. Our doors are zinc coated to stop rust then they are powder coated using Dulux powders only for that perfect finish. We install all our heritage steel security doors with a Lockwood double deadlock with dual select which means you can lock the security door from the outside and in case of fire you can get from the inside by flicking the latch up, but you also turn the key twice and the security door is double deadlocked. Our security doors also come with a door close for your convenience, we have plenty of different mesh options as well, you can have a standard tuff screen wire or you can even go for the limited vision mesh with over 100 colors to choose from we should have something to match.

Security Doors
Michael's Security Doors has been servicing Melbourne's security door needs for more than twenty years now, from our humble begins in a very small shop/factory in plenty rd Reservoir, then Michael's Security Doors made the change to move the manufacturing side of the business to factory in West Heidelberg where we remained for many years. By keeping the small shop front in Reservoir we believed most of our customers recognized us, but push came to shovel and Michael's Security Doors had out grown it, so we decided to bit the bullet and move to a brand new factory and showroom at factory 2/44 Mahoneys rd Thomastown where we still are to this day. Michael's Security Doors has prospered there as with the benefits of having the factory a showroom together it makes the administration and manufacturing processes so much more efficient, another bonus is the space Michael's Security Doors has gained, with this space we have been able to hold more stock (faster turnaround) set out areas for specific doors (better quality finish) and most of all being able to offer one the biggest ranges in Victoria maybe Australia.
Since the new factory in Thomastown Michael's Security Doors has branched out to service even more areas in Melbourne Michael's Security Doors opened its next showroom which is at Factory 1/4 Delma rd Ravenhall which is just across from Caroline Springs with this showroom we one of most extensive displays in the market place with all the doors being fully made to measure and installed to our standards with this showroom Michael's Security Doors believer’s we can help service the western side of Melbourne.
